After we were hit with the news of the 2.5 percent VAT increase, last week, due to go into effect in January, 2011, it seems there is some good news to be had.
According to Eurogamer, UK game retailers will be taking the blow on our behalf by absorbing the VAT increase on new game releases.
“”Senior retail figures” have told trade publication MCV they will swallow the cost of the upcoming VAT rise instead of charging more for their games.
This means the £39.99 you pay for most new games in your local game shop is set to stay the same.”
So, come 2011, we may not be able to afford anything else but at least we can still game – which is obviously the most important thing.
