Dec 21, 2009
Unlike the UK music charts (Rage Against the Machine beating off X Factor’s Joe to the Christmas #1? Awesome), there are few surprises in the final gaming chart before Christmas. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 holds the top spot for the sixth consecutive week, making it the official Christmas number one for 2009.
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
2. FIFA 10
3. Wii Fit Plus
4. Wii Sports Resort
5. Assassin’s Creed 2
6. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
7. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
8. Forza Motorsport 3
9. Mario Kart Wii
10. Just Dance
11. Left 4 Dead 2
12. James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game
13. Lego Batman
14. Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box
15. Need for Speed: Shift

I would of liked to see Assassin’s creed 2 higher than Fifa but pretty good turnout :P
Yeah – that surprised me too, actually. But then there’s probably a lot of Dads with FIFA 10 wrapped up under the tree for them – it’s a Christmas staple! (And I know that I have it under the tree for my other half!)
That chart seems very strange to me, I consider myself quite a gaming ‘enthusiast’ and have well over 200 games in my collection (at 21 I think that’s quite good? :P)
Yet I only own one of the games from this chart, that being Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.
I am interested in playing Call of Duty as I have played all of the previous games, but I simply don’t have the money to spend on a game that I would probably complete in a day and that from what I have seen, does not really improve much.
I have 9 of the top 20 (and I hope that another two are under the Christmas tree for me!)
Am amazed that Brain Training is still in the chart, though – seriously, who’s still buying that?!
I have 3 of the top 20 :)
They still sell brain Training in shops?!
Prehaps in a car boot sale, but sHoPs!
Ugh. I can’t wait for Call of Duty to come off of that chart. There’s hardly anything special about it.
Assassin’s Creed 2 deserves to be at the top, along with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. And Professor Layton. The really good games.
Thanks for the article!
