Fable III’s Stellar Voice Cast

Now we all know that Peter Molyneux has a slight tendency to over exaggerate the scale of his games. In an interview with IGN Molyneux enthusiastically claims that Fable III will have “the greatest cast that any computer game has ever had”. While this statement is sure to be a bit out of proportion, the game certainly does carry some hefty names.

These names include John Cleese playing as the hero’s butler, and Stephen Fry returning as Reaver. For those of you who aren’t familiar with English actors, here’s a bit to jog your memory. John Cleese is an English actor, comedian, writer, and film producer best known (in America at least) for being in the comedy troupe responsible for Monty Python, but has also been in two James Bond movies (The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day) as well as two Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone(or Philosopher’s Stone if your in Europe), and the Chamber of Secrets. Stephen Fry is an actor, writer, journalist, comedian, television presenter and film director, and appeared as Reaver in Fable II, was the narrator of LittleBigPlanet, and also narrated the first four Harry Potter games.

However, according to Molyneux, it isn’t just the big names that is making the cast and voice acting great. “How we’re using these characters is very much dependent on how you play the game,” Molyneux said. “This is not like traditional dialogue – we went into a studio with John Cleese and I think he’d never done anything like this ever before, because we had to say ‘if the player is like this, how are you going to react’. It was a very interesting process.” Molyneux is adamant in the fact that this form of dialogue will boost game atmosphere and the enjoyment factor of the game.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see if all that is enough to make truth out of Molyneux’s statement until late 2010.
