Gran Turismo 5: Video / Cover Art / Screens

Jan 7, 2010

Racing games. Played one, played them all, right? They’re all pretty much the same.

No. Not really. Gran Turismo, arguably one of the most successful racing franchises of all time, is set to add to the acclaimed series with the predictably titled Gran Turismo 5. And about time, too – it’s been five year since GT4 hit the New Releases shelves.

There are over 950 cars appearing in this game, but it’s the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that graces the cover of this ‘real driving simulator’. And it’s not just the cover art that’s this gorgeous. Don’t believe me? Check out this video – even non-petrolheads can’t fail to appreciate how gorgeous this game looks:

To date there’s no scheduled release date from Polyphony Digital or Sony, but stick with us and we’ll let you know as soon as we do. In the meantime, check out the official site (luckily, you don’t need to be able to read Japanese to look at pretty pictures . . .) and enjoy the cover-art in full:

All work and no xbox releases make Martee a sad boy….
Gran Turismo 3 was my favourite racing game of all time, and probably still would be if I could find the disk, number 4 was some what of a let down though…. I just wish I could try this one out.

Look on the bright side – we have a cover! And cover = release. So whilst it might not be in Q1 or even Q2, it does look like we’ll be getting GT5 sometime this year – which is a good thing, right?!

The only Gran Turismo I’ve played is the first one. I’m not really into racing games, but I think Gran Turismo is really cool for trying to go beyond simple racing (let’s be honest, it’s part of the reason why other racing franchises have evolved). I personally hope that it does extremely well and hopefully beats Forza (which is basically the same thing, isn’t it?).
