Welcome to our Community Q!

Once a week we flip the tables and listen to what you guys have to say . . . rather than sitting back and make you listen to us . . .

My most wanted games of 2010 are definately Bioshock 2 and Dead Space 2. Why? Purely because they’re sequals to two of the best games in existance!
Bioshock I liked because the storyline was great, as was the storytelling, and the way you had to fight your enemies (combining plasmids and weapons) was genious.
Dead Space was awesome just because it. just. is. It’s the best horror game up to now in my opinion, just the feeling of being alone on a giant spaceship with almost nothing but a mutated crew to accompany you… that’s just disturbing. Also the way the designers keep coming up with new strategies to scare you is just fantastic.

I agree. I had the honour of meeting the Dead Space dev team last year at their HQs in Redwood Shores and they’re a dedicated, incredible, awesome group of guys. There’s soooo much detail in this virtual world it’s unbelievable and I too can’t wait for DS2!

Wow, you met the DS dev team? That truly is an honour!
You’re right, the amount of detail they put in Dead Space is astonishing. For instance, they really made certain areas look like they used to be used for daily routine things, e.g. the executive areas, the bridge, and even the ‘train stations’ where they put up posters for a movie or something similar.
They also put a lot of detail into making sci-fi stuff look real, for instance, I believe it was a gravity generator (not sure though). They made it look as if it was an actual existing thing here on earth, and I haven’t seen many games really do that.
All this excites me even more for Dead Space 2!

Yes. :) I was very lucky; EA invited me out to meet them in late 2008. And as I said, looking behind the scenes gives an even greater insight into how much bloody work has gone into that game!

            I’m jealous :P

I can make you more jealous, dude – check out my awesomlicious Isaac t-shirt, baby! https://girlgamerssuck.com/images/dstee.jpg

(It’s actually almost entirely black so Isaac doesn’t usually show up this clearly. The flash is misleading. Btw, didn’t even have to put this on to show off – just happened to have changed into when I got home from work tonight!)

There are many sequels scheduled to come out in 2010. Which is exciting in general, because oddly enough I love sequels.

The first game thats coming out that I’m excited for is Mass Effect 2!! I loved the innovative and immersive qualities of the first game. The atmosphere was great, and the characters were relatable. When it ended the first time I played it, I literally sat there and shouted, “That was an amazing game!” I’m excited about the new characters they are adding, as well as the upgrades to the Normandy. Also, not sitting in an elevator for half the game will be wonderful.

The second game I’m looking forward to is Bioshock 2. Even though I’m worried about how the sequel will be, and how the story line will compare to the original I prefer to stay optimistic. Despite the absence of Ken Levine. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this will be an epic sequel to an epic game.

The final game I am really looking forward to is Dead Space 2. Even though it hasn’t been OFFICIALLY announced as a 2010 release, many people estimate that it will be. Though, I’m guessing it will probably be a late 2010 release, perhaps Halloween again like the first one was? It’ll be interesting to find out. The new monsters and gun specializations are sure to add a new flavor to the game. And finally getting some real missions instead of button pushing quests will be nice.

I never played Mass Effect. It completely passed me by, but I’m intrigued about the second in the series. Definitely will check it out.

And see my comments above for Dead Space 2!

There are only two games (so far) that I’m looking forward to for 2010.

First, I’m very excited for Yakuza 3, and I was extremely happy that Sega decided to bring it over to North America. I know I’ll have to snatch it up as soon as it comes out since they likely won’t print too many copies. I’ve played part of the first Yakuza (I’ve been coming to terms with the fact that they decided to put a cheesy English dub in; thankfully the other games have Japanese voices) and it reminds me a lot of Shenmue, one of the best game series in history. I can’t wait for the day when I’ll really have time to plug through Yakuza and Yakuza 2 so that I can really plug through Yakuza 3. I’m really hoping that Yakuza 4 will also come out in North America.

The second game that I’m looking forward to – especially after watching videos on YouTube – is Final Fantasy XIII. So far, a lot of people – mostly trolls on GameFAQs – are lamenting the fact that most of the game is linear, but 99.9% of JRPGs are linear, which doesn’t bother me in the least. If you gave me a game that has dialog trees and non-linearity but has a forgettable story, I won’t buy it. In contrast, a game like FF XIII – linear but with a good story – will keep me going. Storyline is par – and sometimes more important – than gameplay for me (which is why I absolutely ADORE Silent Hill 2). The game also has an awesome-looking battle system, and of course the graphics are brilliant.

These two games – along with several older games that I’ll likely get in 2010 such as MGS 4, Valkyria Chronicles, Uncharted 1 and 2, maybe Eternal Sonata – are going to make me finally purchase a PS3.

Yes, Yakuza 3! Sooo much hype about this game.

I haven’t played a FF title since FFVII. Honestly – the game does nothing for me and I’ve no idea why (although for some reason I have FF 7, 8 & 9 in my PS1 collection and I’ve never played them!). Maybe I should revisit?!

Eh, FF isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I’ve been a fan of the series for about 14 years now, and I doubt I’ll stop being a fan (even though I don’t care for FF XI, was somewhat disappointed with FF XII, and don’t care for most of the spin-off titles).

I’d like to say, “Yes, revisit!” but I can’t unless I know what turns you away from the series.

    Personally, I’m looking out for:

    Bayonetta
    Heavy Rain
    Dead Space 2
Dante’s Inferno (tho this may be a renter??)
    Mass Effect 2

Shoot, I can’t believe I forgot Heavy Rain! I definitely want to play that…shame on me for forgetting! I haven’t played a true adventure game since Shenmue, really. I’m so happy that they have QTE!

Based on Steve’s comments, Dante’s Inferno sounds like a rental…
